What is Affiliate Marketing?
The Newbies Guide To Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts. The industry has four core players: the merchant (also known as ‘retailer’ or ‘brand’), the network (that contains offers for the affiliate to choose from and also takes care of the payments), the publisher (also known as ‘the affiliate’), and the customer.
The Affiliate Marketing business model is a fairly simple concept to grasp. According to Wikipedia, Affiliate Marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.

Many companies are willing to pay you commissions if someone buys something from them through your “affiliate link”. Meaning, if someone comes to your website and sees a product advertisement, suggestion or recommendation and clicks on your banner or text link, and makes a purchase you get a commission. It’s as simple as that. You can even earn commissions even when a referral doesn’t buy a product but when they enter their email address or mobile phone number into an opt-in form. Cost Per Action or CPA (sometimes known as Pay Per Action or PPA; also Cost Per Conversion) is an online advertising pricing model, where the advertiser pays for each specified action – for example, an impression, click, form submit (e.g., contact request, newsletter sign up, registration etc.), double opt-in or sale.
As a website/blog owner you will need to make sure that your website is attractive, interesting and convincing enough for your visitors to “click though” and make a purchase. It may sound difficult but isn’t.
The first and most important step is to choose your target niche market. Choosing your nice will affect the domain name you will chose, the text you will write, the video you will make and product you sell. I highly recommend watching Ian Pribyl’s 5 Rules for Succeeding in Affiliate Marketing video below.
CBENGINE is a powerful research and tracking tool that lets you find quality products of interest in the ClickBank Marketplace.
Once you have decided on a niche, the next step is to purchase a domain name. It is also very important for your website future visibility of your website/blog. Choosing the right domain will help you to rank in search engines higher and it is also a way by which visitors will remember you. Making it relevant and catchy is your number one priority. I use Domain.com because they offer domains at a very competitive prices (under $10 for a .com) and they pay very high domain commissions (30%) which is most likely the highest domain commissions available. I challenge you to find a higher paying domain affiliate program.
Next you will need to get web hosting to your domain. Web hosting is where your website files will be stored and all the data saved. There are many good hosting websites; CloudAccess is increasing in popularity. I am using it now too and I am very happy so far.
Your next step is to build a website and go live. WordPress will make this process easy and it is included for free with most web hosting including CloudAccess. For those who don’t know, WordPress is web software you can use to create a website or blog with thousands of variations.
Once you have your domain, web hosting and WordPress blog setup you will need to begin writing your content, optimizing SEO (to build backlinks) choosing products to promote and many other things.
