Dr. Link Check – Online Link Checker

Dr. Link Check

Dr. Link Check is a free web app that checks a website for broken or blacklisted links.

Why should I check my links?

“Bad links harm your reputation with customers”.

Non-working links are considered highly unprofessional. They reflect poorly on your business and deter visitors from returning to your site. Even worse are outgoing links to websites that may cause harm to visitors through phishing or malware. That’s why Dr. Link Check not only checks the validity of links, but also matches them against lists of known malicious websites.

“Bad links affect your search engine ranking”.

Search engines strive to provide high quality results. If a search engine spider comes across a website with a high number of dead and blacklisted links, it may decide to penalize the site and lower its ranking.

“Bad links may indicate that your website has been hacked or spammed”.

It’s not uncommon that websites get hacked (e.g. through a security hole in WordPress) and flooded with spam links for the purpose of manipulating search engine rankings. Webmasters often remain unaware of the hack because the links are hidden from real visitors and only visible to search engine robots. Dr. Link Check makes these links visible to you, so you have the chance to fix the problem before your website gets banned by Google.

How does Dr. Link Check work?

Beginning at the given URL, the app crawls through the complete website, downloading and following all internal links it can find. It considers all links internal that are on the same domain as the start URL. External links (pointing to other sites) are checked for existence, but are not further crawled.

The link check is currently limited to a maximum of 1,000 found and checked links. When this limit is reached, the check stops automatically.
